Normally, this would be totally awesome. But it currently poses a bit of a dilemma for me.
Well, because earlier this month I decided to join the Movember movement. If you’re not familiar with Movember it’s where guys around the world grow mustaches for the month of November in order to raise awareness for prostate and testicular cancer.
Unfortunately, yours truly was blessed with the facial hair growing capabilities of a 12-year-old kid just hitting puberty. You remember when the first kid in middle school hits puberty and decides he’ll show off by growing out what he thinks is a mustache.? He grows out what I like to call the “look Mom, I can grow a mustache” mustache. Um, yeah…that’s I got going for me right now.
Given that this may be the only chance in my lifetime to go to the White House, I have debated internally over the last few days whether to keep my pathetic mustache and look like a complete doofus at the White House or shave it and look like a respectable human being.
Of course, if you know me well, you can probably guess which one I chose (no drum roll needed): I have decided to look like a doofus for the cause…but I am doing it on one condition:
I’m calling this my Movember mOBAMA Challenge:
If I can raise $1000 for LiveStrong and the Prostate Cancer Foundation before Nov 17th, I will proudly rock my lame-o mustache at the White House. If/when I reach my goal, I promise to send lots of mOBAMA mustache photos from the White House to anyone who donates.
If you’d like to support me, you can donate at this link:
I would also be super-grateful if you could share this blog post with any friends who have been touched by cancer or any friends who just generally support mustaches and/or shenanigans.
My grandpa Mack passed away from prostate cancer when I was a kid so creating awareness for this disease is something I feel strongly about. Thank you so much for your help!
Lastly, to make this challenge more fun, I have created this mustache style guide. Feel free to leave comments on this blog to let me know which style I should wear at the White House.
Big thanks to everyone!
